Living Atypically

Here's what you should know about me- I do not like doing things the way everyone else does.  I seek options rather than settling for what's obvious.  Creative not conformity.  Unique not uniformity.  Not just for the sake of being different, though.  There are so many alternatives available that people do not consider simply because they are not, well, typical.

Now that I am preparing for our first child to enter the world, I am doing it in my atypical way.  That means no baby blue.  No Babies 'R Us pre-fab bedroom-in-a-bag.  No jungle animals, all-stars, or trucks.  Not the usual baby brands or products.  Not even disposable diapers.  That's right- on top of it all we're venturing into cloth diapers, too.  (Go ahead and gasp.  Everyone else does.)

We're going to build this baby's world our way.  Luckily my husband has been on board from the get go.  He's always loved Frank Sinatra.  And has been oh so very patient as I glued my eyes to the computer screen looking for the perfect products, prices, and ideas.

This blog will share my trials and triumphs as I attempt to live out my own and start out my son's atypical life.  I hope it inspires others to think outside the box.  If you can't find it, make it yourself.  If you don't know something, research.  Don't settle for what everyone else does.  As my friend Bob Frost said- Take the road less traveled by; it could make all the difference.
